This is a good opportunity to keep updated of the recently issued amendments to Listing Rules relating to Disclosure of Financial Information with reference to the New Companies Ordinance and HKFRS issued in February 2015 and take note of the highlights from the Exchange’s Review of Financial Statements Programme. Finance team, company directors, company secretaries and auditors of Listed issuers can benefit from a better understanding of the key developments towards better business reporting.

(a)  Areas to be covered in the seminar
 
(i)   Listing Rules amendments with reference to the New Companies Ordinance and HKFRS issued in February 2015;
(ii)  Business Review and MD&A;
(iii) New headline category relating to “Prior Period Adjustments due to Correction of Material Errors”; and
(iv) Highlights from Exchange’s Review of Financial Statements Programme - to take note of the key accounting standards and key requirements of Appendix 16 of the Listing Rules to ensure compliance.
 
(b)  Bio of speaker
 

Mr. Steve Ong is a UK chartered accountant and a Hong Kong certified public accountant. He is a fellow of the ICAEW and HKICPA with over 25 years of experience in the accounting profession. He is the head of accounting affairs at the HKEx’s listing division responsible for accounting and auditing matters, including the Exchange’s financial statements review program. He is also a member of the HKICPA financial reporting standards committee, the auditing and assurance standards committee and its sustainability and integrated reporting advisory group
 
He is also involved with HKICPA’s Best Corporate Governance Disclosure Awards and The Hong Kong Management Association Best Annual Reports Awards as a member of the judging panels. He is a regular speaker at events on the Exchange’s financial statements review program relating to accounting and disclosure of financial information in listing rules.
